About T'ai Chi and Yoga
Man can live for two months without food, two weeks without water, but only two minutes without air. Two forms of physical activity that integrate body, mand and spirit are T'ai Chi and Yoga. While Yoga offers many benefits, T'ai Chi does not involve any of the structural stresses of Yoga and is appropriate for people of all ages and fitness levels. More than just an exercise, T'ai Chi is a moving meditation which has brought people in touch with their bodies, minds and spirits on a deeper and clearer level for many years. What we learn in T'ai Chi class is applicable in everyday life.
Based on the ancient Chinese system of external movements coupled with internal energetics, T'ai Chi works on the development of the body's internal vital energy (Chi) as opposed to the one-dimensional development of external strength.
Combining the contrastic qualities of softness, power and concentration, this internal form of Kung Fu is rapidly spreading throughout the United States. Learning to cultivate Chi leads to improved cardiovascular flow and digestive assimilation, reduces blood pressure and stress levels, stimulates immune system function, and improves balance and coordination. When practiced daily, T'ai Chi allows us to tap into our higher consciousness while strengthening our bodies at the same time. Nina is a Master Instructor.
